How to Import Your
Wallet into MetaMask

Step by Step Guide

First Step
Download the Official MetaMask App
Visit metamask.io and download MetaMask for your device. It is available as a Chrome browser extension for desktop, and as an app on the Apple App Store and Google Play Store for mobile. Always download from the official website only — never use third-party links, as fake versions exist that steal wallets.

Open the App
Open MetaMask and Tap Get Started
Once installed, open the MetaMask app or click the fox icon in your browser toolbar. You will see the welcome screen. You will be given two options — to create a brand new wallet or to import an existing one. Since you already have a wallet, proceed to the next step.

Choose Method
Select "Import an Existing Wallet"
Tap "Import an existing wallet" on the welcome screen. You will then be asked to choose your import method. There are two ways to import:
📝 Seed Phrase

Your 12 or 24 recovery words written down when you first created your wallet. This imports your entire wallet and all accounts inside it.

🔑 Private Key

A long string of 64 characters. This imports only one specific account, not your entire wallet.

Enter Credentials
Type Your Seed Phrase or Private Key
If using a seed phrase, type each word carefully into the numbered boxes in the exact correct order. If using a private key, paste the full key into the input field. Double-check every word before continuing — a single wrong word will prevent the wallet from importing. On mobile, turn off autocorrect before typing to avoid words being changed automatically.

Set Password
Create a Strong Password
Set a password for your MetaMask app on this device. This password is only used to unlock the app locally — it does not protect your wallet on other devices and is separate from your seed phrase. Use a mix of uppercase letters, numbers and symbols. Confirm the password, agree to the terms, and tap Import.

All Done ✅
Your Wallet is Now Imported
MetaMask will load your wallet with your full balance, tokens and transaction history. If your balance shows zero after importing, you are likely on the wrong network. Tap the network name at the top of MetaMask and switch to the correct one:
